  • Condition: Excellent, usable, sturdy, with dark patina’d wire surface, no significant rust; and mellow, original varnished, wood. Fabric strips between the wood show wear - but they are not visually obtrusive, and could possibly, be removed. Normal minor nicks and signs of use to the wood.     Description
    ------- This is one (1), antique, wood and twisted, heavy wire clothes hanger. This is an uncommon / unusual form. Sculptural yet still functional - it adds a graphic whimsy to a wall or a dressing room.
    Note - the hanging hook is smaller than modern hangers at just over 1” inner diameter - this is common in late 19th to early 20th century hangers made for travel trunks and before the standardization of large-diameter closet poles, and/or extensive ready-to-wear wardrobes.
    Sturdy wood + dark iron wire construction - there are rectangular wire loops that slide up to release - or lower to secure, the wooden pants gripper portion.
    Size -16.5” long x 9” tall x 2.75” at widest part of the arched, shoulder wire, overall, approx.
    Hook will fit a closet pole up to about 1” diameter.
    No maker marks or other markings noted.
