A little wear to brass finish edges and on the inner lid

1944 to 1953
John Vashe Pilcher began his own company and began making buttons and novelties in 1885. Cousin John Babbitt jointed the company in 1924 and designed powder vanity cases, made for 3rd parties. Vashe died in 1933 and the Vashe trademark was abandoned in 1944 and the company began using the Pilcher name till the company sold in 1953 when the production of compacts ended.
