Vintage Elgin American Guilloche Enamel Compact. Condition is "Used". Shipped with USPS First Class.
This is a really nice example of an Elgin American Guilloche Enamel compact. This is the teardrop shape and is from the late 40’s to early 50’s. The front of the compact features an oblong, cream color, swirl design enamel piece with pink roses and edged in gold. This section is slightly raised. The outer edge of the lid is black enamel and the back of the compact is all black enamel. There is a tiny dot of missing cream enamel on the right edge as you look at the lid of the compact. The back of the compact does show wear. A push bar opens the compact. The inside is in wonderful condition. The mirror is bright with no cracks. There is a little faint clouding just starting to form but not very noticeable. There is a rouge compartment with a full cake. The custom shaped Elgin puff covers the hinged powder compartment. The puff has never been used and there has never been any powder in the compartment. It appears the compact was carried but never used. It measures 3 1/4” long and 2 1/2” wide. For it’s age this compact is in wonderful condition. It is a beautifully designed piece and would make a great addition to your collection.
