VINTAGE ITALIAN BRASS SILVER ENAMELED POWDER COMPACT WITH SIFTER AND PUFF

These beautiful compacts were made in Italy and were popular in the 1930’s and 40’s. This lovely compact is in good shape for its age. The mirror isn’t broken, but the metal surrounding the mirror is slightly bent. The original powder sifter and puff are still there. The enamel is still in very good shape without much wear, but there are some sections where the gilt is worn (see photo). The hinge works well and the compact snaps closed easily. I cannot find any markings on the metal, but my uncle who bought it in Italy in 1935 says the top is silver and the rest is brass. It measures 2 ¾” wide by 2 ¼” long and ½” tall. It weighs 85 grams or just under 3 ounces.
