Vintage Niloak Art Pottery Blue 7" Art Deco Swan Vase Planter ca. 1940sThis Art Deco Style Swan is Glazed in a Beautiful Shade of Blue
Marked "NILOAK" on Base Though It is Hard to Make Out
Niloak Pottery began in 1909 and was founded by Charles Dean “Bullet” Hyten and an Ohio potter named Arthur Dovey. The business was located in Benton, Arkansas. Although most think that Niloak was the name of the business, it was actually the Eagle Pottery Company. Interestingly, the name "niloak", marked on their wares, was derived from the type of high quality clay found in the Benton area called kaolin spelled backwards. All production ceased in 1947 and the company was dissolved.
Measures approx.
7 1/4" H x 5 1/2" L x 4" W.
EXCELLENT CONDITION ~ No nicks, chips, cracks, stains, or crazing. Interior is very clean. The only thing I find at all are a few pin prick size glaze pops on the bottom of the planter, only seen when turned over.
If you collect swans or Niloak pottery this would be a wonderful addition to your collection.
