    Description

Here is a vintage go kart engine.  I know next to nothing about old go kart engines.   I am guessing it is a it is a West Bend.  Numbers on the engine that I could find are 610 WB 820 and Reed 456 also says West Bend.  Again not sure how to tell if it is a 6.10 or 8.20 cubic inch engine. The muffler and mounting block are marked G.E.M.   The intake manifold is marked Kovach.   The engine turns over easily and from what I can see through the intake ports it is in good shape.   Makes some compression if you put your finger over the spark plug hole.  Magneto looks to be shot. The engine shroud was missing when I found it.   Not sure what else to say.   Any information on the engine would be appreciated.   Offered with a low start and no reserve

A helpful ebayer sent me the following message:
The 610 had a cast iron cylinder liner whereas the 820 had a chrome bore. You could stick a magnet into the exhaust port and if it sticks to the bore it's a 610 (it won't stick to the chrome bore of the 820). Or you could take the cylinder off and measure it. The 820 has about a 2 1/2" bore whereas the 610 is around 2 1/8".
I ran a magnet down through the intke perts and it did not stick.
